Update Elide with elide upgrade, install a specific release or nightly build, and pin a project to an Elide version with elide use and .elideversion.

Changes are in the Changelog; artifacts, checksums, and dated tags are on GitHub Releases.

OpenRewrite integration is experimental in 1.6.0. See the changelog overview and the OpenRewrite guide; recipe compatibility hardening is planned for a later release. The experimental dependency code index is also available for type and reference queries.

Next release: 1.6.3

The 1.6.3 feature overview covers the release in development:

These features require a 1.6.3 development build. The latest released version remains 1.6.2.

Latest release: 1.6.2

The 1.6.2 feature overview describes the latest release:

Native tools are included on macOS arm64 and dynamically linked Linux amd64/arm64. Windows and fully static distributions retain their existing JVM tools; see the native-tools guides for the exact capabilities.

Download Elide 1.6.2, or use a full dated tag from GitHub Releases when pinning a nightly build. The 1.6.0 feature narrative and benchmark evidence remain available below the 1.6.2 overview.

Update Elide

Terminal
bash
elide upgrade # update to the latest build on your channel
elide upgrade --check # check without updating
elide upgrade --channel release # channels: release, nightly

Update a package-manager install through that package manager.

Install a specific build

Terminal
bash
curl -sSL --tlsv1.2 elide.sh | bash -s -- --install-rev=VERSION

For a reproducible nightly, pass a full dated tag from GitHub Releases.

Pin a project to a version

Terminal
bash
elide use 1.6.2

This writes .elideversion and installs that version; every elide run in the project then uses it.

FlagEffect
elide use --no-installWrite .elideversion only.
elide use --channel <channel>Download from release or nightly.
--use-version <version>Run an installed version for one invocation.
--ignore-versionRun the current binary, ignoring .elideversion.
